Step 1

What You'll Need

You’ll need 1-inch-wide hockey tape, a stick tip, and, if necessary, a hot glue gun.

Step 2

Cut the Tape

Using scissors, cut a piece of hockey tape approximately 3 inches (7.5 cm) long. *Try to cut the tape as straight as possible.*

Step 3

Apply the Tape to the Tip

For an optimal fit, use a short tip with a flex 40 or 50 shaft (1 layer of tape) or a flex 60 or 65 shaft (1 layer). For a long tip, apply 2 layers of tape for a flex 40 or 50 shaft, and 1 layer for a flex 60 or 65 shaft.

Step 4

Apply the Glue

Apply a generous amount of glue to the four inner sides of the shaft where the tip will be inserted. *This step is optional but helps further secure the tip in place.*

Step 5

Insert the Stick Tip Tenon

Gently insert the tenon of the stick tip into the end of the shaft designed to receive it.

Step 6

Push the Tip into the Shaft

Place the stick tip on the ground and gently push the shaft downward along the tenon. The shaft should be inserted as straight as possible. Bending the tip while it's not fully inserted may cause it to break. *Avoid hammering the tip into the shaft by hitting it against the ground, as this can cause damage if it’s not fully inserted.*
